From Corporate Operator to Executive Advisor

Randall’s career began inside some of the most demanding organizations in American business. Across 3M, Johnson & Johnson, Aon, and Korn Ferry, he held roles that put him in front of the same problem from every angle: why do some capable leaders rise while other, equally capable ones stall? As a senior partner at Korn Ferry, he worked directly with Fortune 10 executives on that question.

The pattern he found is the reason Inspirit Institute exists. The leaders who broke through were rarely the most talented. They were the ones who understood exactly what they brought that nobody else did — and who had built the discipline to display it consistently, under pressure, in public. Talent opened the door. Process was what carried them through it.

The Discover, Develop, Display Framework

That observation became a method. Discover your Super Purpose Power — the specific capability that makes you the obvious choice rather than one of several qualified candidates. Develop it deliberately across every domain that sustains a leader, not just the professional one. Display it with the executive presence that turns capability into recognition.

The framework is the spine of his book, Rise to the Role, and of every Inspirit Institute engagement. It is also why the practice coaches across six life segments rather than career alone: leaders who neglect their family, faith, fitness, finance, or wellbeing do not stay effective in their field for long.

“Decide: see the moment, honor it, master it, and rise to it.”Randall Ian Thames

Beyond the Boardroom

Randall is a speaker and radio personality who has delivered keynotes to corporate audiences, public school systems, and industry conferences, and he serves as a deputy pastor. That combination — boardroom credibility alongside genuine pastoral experience — is unusual, and it is what allows Inspirit Institute to take questions of purpose and conviction as seriously as it takes questions of strategy.

In 2025 the International Association of Top Professionals named him Top CEO and Executive Advisor of the Year. He works with leaders from keynote stages, through advisory engagements, and one-on-one through Inspirit Institute’s concierge coaching practice.
